There is a large pay & display car park, just two minutes walking, situated over the railway line, on the other side of the main road (Mutley Plain). Free car parking is available in some of the adjoining streets which do not have restrictions.
Standard £40; Unemployed and student £20; Junior (18 & under) £15; Junior family (2 or more children) £25. The English Chess Federation ‘Bronze’ membership is £18.
Newcomers are welcome to attend a few sessions without charge, until they have made up their minds whether they wish to join. Just come along to the Club on the dates listed above.
The Club runs a number of internal Club competitions to suit different levels of players strength and also participates in the Torbay Chess League and the Devon County Chess Association.
Coaching is provided for school aged children from 5pm-6.15pm on Mondays

Changes to club evenings
From January 2022 the club will no longer open on Wednesday evenings. The club will be open on Monday evenings except Bank Holidays. The season has been extended with the summer closure period reduced to just 6 weeks for the school summer holidays.
Plymouth’s Juniors enjoy county success
Five Plymouth players took part in the DJCA Devon Individual Championships and Schools Competition on 4 December 2021 and obtained some great results. 13 year old Caleb Caleshu took on all comers in the under 18 section and won it with four wins and two draws to become the overall Devon junior champion. In the under 15 section Devrim Phaneuf was joint winner on 4.5 from 6 and in the under 11 section, 9 year old Angela Kunwar came 3rd overall and 'Best Girl' with 4 from 6. Well done all!
Plymouth 1 promoted to the online 4NCL division 1
The club’s online first team finished second in their Division 2 group in season 4 of the online version of the Four Nations Chess league to secure promotion to the top division. This means next season we will be taking on teams fielding some of the country’s top chess players. Bring it on!

Plymouth Rapidplay, 1st December 2019
Jos Haynes (Tiverton) and Jonathan Underwood (Seaton) tied for first on 5/6 at the Plymouth Rapidplay, finishing half a point ahead of Steven Levy (South Hams) and Michael Stinton-Brownbridge (Plymouth). Results at: ( Web Link )
